It is very common to need to combine several databases into a single collection of deals and contacts. A sales manager might wish to see his team's deals and contacts consolidated or want a snapshot or backup. A sales rep who keeps one database for his leads and another with his qualified contacts and deals might wish to combine them for a mailing....
Downloading several databases does not change or combine the "source" databases.
Anyone who is connected to a database can download the contents.
