There are some 'special' fields in an Opportunity that are used to calculate the 'revenue' for an Opportunity, or the date from which it ages. These are the 'quantity', 'price', 'discount' and 'order date' fields. If changes are made to any of these fields, it may effect the Totalizer, and/or the aging status of the Opportunity as displayed on the main screen. To ensure that the main screen display is fully representative of current data, it is necessary for us to 'recalculate' information that is displayed if any of these 4 fields are changed. This recalculation can take a noticeable time on older Pocket PCs if a user has a Pipeline with a lot of Opportunities, and so we made the recalculation an option which you may switch on or off with this menu selection. Even if the option is 'off', and the recalculation is not being done, the data in the Opportunities on file is completely up to date and reflective of the changes made, we just don't guarantee that the Totalizer will show the right amounts.
You may 'force' a recalculation at any time, by clicking on the Totalizer, and all totals will then be updated.
Note: when field 1 (Opportunity Name) is changed, or Field 20 is added where no entry was before, the system will force a recalculate to ensure that the main display is correct. This menu item does not effect the recalculates in these two cases and they will take place.
