You may select another Pipeline from the one you already have opened, and all the unique Opportunities in this selected Pipeline will then be appended to the Opportunities in your currently opened Pipeline. Use the Tools->Merge Pipeline menu to access this feature.
If you attempt to merge in an Opportunity that already exists in your Pipeline, then one of two things will happen:
a) If the Opportunity that you are attempting to merge in is more recent (date & time) than the one it is intended to replace, then it will replace it.
b) If the Opportunity you are attempting to merge in is earlier than the one it is intended to replace, then the merge will reject that specific Opportunity and carry on the next one.
Since this is also the way merges work on the Desktop Sales Manager, this effectively provides the ability to update individual Opportunities at the 'record level'. As an example, consider the situation where a salesperson loads their Pocket PC up for a sales trip and copies the Pipeline file sales.sos from their desktop to their Pocket PC. They record changes and updates during the trip onto the Pocket PC and then, on their return to their office, copy the sales.sos file to their PC and rename it sales2.sos . Merging sales2 into sales will then only merge new Opportunities added during their trip, and will replace the older Opportunities on the PC with any newly gathered information in the appropriate Opportunities from the Pocket PC. This works equally well in the other direction when merging files from the PC onto the Pocket PC.
At the end of the merge processing, a message will display how many Opportunities have been successfully merged in, and how many have been rejected. The rejected Opportunities are all duplicates of existing Opportunities.
The program will then display the new Pipeline treeview.
