Editing Opportunity Fields
Previous Top Next

You may edit any field in an Opportunity by selecting it in the Opportunity display area. Use the "+" to expand categories, Opportunities, and groups to see the fields you wish to change. Select the field and an editing form will open that allows you to change the information in the field. The editing form that will appear will vary depending upon the type of information held in the field. Each edit form will contain at least two buttons, OK and Cancel. Clicking on the OK button will save the changes and return to the main Opportunity display, while clicking on Cancel will not store any change and return to the display. If a change is made to any of the 'special' fields in an Opportunity (as described in the Recalculate section), then the whole tree is redisplayed to make sure that all the revenue information is correct, and this may take a few moments.

The different editing forms are as follows:

Text
Any input is accepted. There are two buttons on this control that should be noted. The Date button will insert the current date and time at the beginning of the text entry box and position for input immediately afterwards. This feature is designed to allow the use of a text field to keep a journal of activities on a prospect, and to save the user having to manually enter date/time. The Contact button will display a list of all the contacts that a user has already entered into the Pocket Outlook Contact list. Selecting a contact from this list will then display details of that particular contact. The user may indicate fields by 'checking' in the appropriate box, and the selected information will then be copied back into the Text box(es) based upon the mapping defined in the Template.

Date
This control will display the currently selected date, and when the user clicks the 'down arrow', will provide a calendar that allows the user to navigate up and down the months and select the required day. The current date may be selected by clicking on the bottom of the control.

CheckBox
If a field is set up as a true/false this control will allow the user to check or uncheck as required.

ListBox
When a field may contain one of a prebuilt list of items, this control will display all the choices that a user may make and allow selection of the required one. A variation of this control (where defined) will allow the user to also enter a selection that is not one of the predefined list.

Numeric/Currency/Percentage
For fields where only numbers are valid, a calculator control is used for entry. This provides full numeric entry, and will act as a built in calculator.

Phone Number
Similar to the numeric entry control, this allows the entry of only valid characters for a phone number. An 'extension' button is provided to allow identification of Extension numbers.

Features
The final group on an Opportunity is the Features list, and this has its own entry control. The user is presented with a list of the features, and may select the appropriate ones by 'checking' them in this control.
