Creating a Sales Opportunity

You may create a new sales Opportunity by selecting menu item New or Edit - New Opportunity (All Fields)

The text entry form is displayed for the Description field and you may change it to whatever is required. Pressing the OK button after text entry will cause the new Opportunity to be generated with each of the other 19 fields being filled in with the 'default' values from the Template.

As with the New Opportunity feature, this process will also display the Description field for initial entry, but will then display each of the other fields in turn, allowing the user to enter any and all fields as required. At any point in the Opportunity build process, the user may stop entry of fields by pressing the Cancel button, which will cause the remainder of the fields in the Opportunity to be generated with the appropriate default values from the Template.

Although there are 20 fields for each sales Opportunity, you are only required to enter the first field - the description or identifier of the sales Opportunity. Others may be entered as more information becomes available.

Note: The 20 fields that make up the Opportunity be changed by selecting a different template (Tools -> Template ). Templates are created through the Template Manager. Help for the specific template you are using is available through the help button on the Create/edit form.
