Some of the basic concepts you should understand about terminology we used in the products:

Sales Opportunity
A sales opportunity holds information about your efforts to pursue a sale.

Sales Analysis
Each sales opportunity can capture your analysis of your sales position. The analysis also holds a view of the competitive sales position. The sales analysis consists of three parts - a Rating, a Solution Impact analysis and a Sales Impact analysis.

Rating
Each sales opportunity can have a rating that answers the question "Is this sales opportunity worth pursuing?" The rating is derived from 5 judgements that you make.

Solution Impact
Each sales opportunity can track your solutions impact on the customer and answers the question "Does the customer want or like our product?" In addition, you can track the impact of your competitor's solution.

Sales Impact
Each sales opportunity can track your sales impact, and answer the question "How well can I sell in this account?". In addition, you can measure your competitors sales impact.

Pipeline
Your sales pipeline is a collection of all your sales opportunities. Your pipeline is saved as a file. Sales managers may examine multiple pipelines or combine/merge pipelines to roll up sales territories in the Desktop Sales Manager product..

Data Fields
There are 20 fields that can contain information about your sales opportunities. The first field is always used as a text field to describe the opportunity. The 20th field is always a check list.

Template
A template adapts the sales opportunity data fields to your style of selling and your industry. Templates are created using the Template Manager.

Special Fields
In addition to the data fields, there are special fields associated with each sales opportunity. These fields contain information that is derived from the data fields or elsewhere. Examples include the 'born on' date/time, sales owner, revenue (amount * quantity * discount), weighted revenue (revenue * probability) and so on.
