Some sales Opportunities involve complex decisions by your customer. You may have proposed more than one solution to a client or you may proposed solutions where the client may accept or reject parts individual parts of your solution. Or you may be proposing a solution with many individual products and services.
The Pocket Sales Manager's does not attempt to model complex solutions but does offer several techniques to allow you to effectively track complex sales. You will decide how best to apply these techniques to your sales situation.
The first technique can be thought of as one sales Opportunity that is a summation of all of the pieces and parts of a complex solution. For example, a computer integrator might be proposing a collection of computers - laptop, desktop, servers - and installation services to a client. In this case you may choose to use a single sales Opportunity with a product description that is more descriptive than specific ( like "Dell desktops, Toshiba laptops, Compaq servers and installation." ) or you may use a reference to a quote ( "Quote #1456"). In these cases, the revenue calculation can be as simple as Quantity 1 X Amount = Revenue or more detailed like Quantity 1 X Discount X List Price = Revenue .
However, your situation may require more specific information. How many desktop computers? Is the discount on the desktop computers different than the discount on the servers or on the installation services? For complex sales situations involving a variety of products, you may use choose to use multiple sales Opportunities to track each product. In the example above, you may wish to create a sales Opportunity for the desktop computers, another for the laptop computers, and so on. Create the first Opportunity then copy it to a second Opportunity. All the details - description, contact, probability, and so on - are copied. Edit the second Opportunity's product/quantity/price information. In the example above you might copy and paste individual sales Opportunities for the desktop computers, laptops, servers, and installation services.
The Pocket Sales Manager allows you to manage multiple sales Opportunities. Setting the Navigator to "Description" will organize all of the above sales Opportunities into one tree node - they all have the same description.
