Links

Links provide one-click shortcuts for reaching information - files or Internet websites - that are related to a sales opportunity. For example you might want a shortcut to your prospect's homepage. If you have saved a client proposal on your computer you can link to it.

Types Of Links

You can link to any file on your computer or to any website Url. Examples:

Managing Links

All links are accessed from the Edit form's Link tab.

The buttons at the bottom of the Links tab manage the links:

Add	Add a new link
Delete	Delete the selected link
Go	Go to the selected link - used to view the document or web page
View	Change your view of the links. Clicking rotates through list, details and icon views.

Creating a link to a file or document on your computer

Press the Add button at the bottom of the Link tab on the Edit form - the "plus" icon.

1) Select Document/File as the type of link you wish to create.

2) Enter a Description of the link

You may choose a description from the drop down list, enter your own description, or choose a description and edit it.

3) Enter the file name

Enter the file name, paste the file name, or use the Browse button to choose a file.

4) Press Save

You must provide both the Description and the file name. If information from either field is missing, a warning is displayed by the offending field. The program does not test to insure that the file exists.

Creating a link to a website

Press the Add button at the bottom of the Link tab on the Edit form - the "plus" icon.

1) Select Website/URL as the type of link you wish to create

2) Enter a Description of the link

You may choose a description from the drop down list, enter your own description, or choose a description and edit it.

3) Enter the Website/URL

Enter or paste the website address/URL.

4) Test (Optional)

Press the Test button to open a browser with the website address you have entered.

4) Press Save

You must provide both the Description and the web page address/Url. If information from either field is missing, a warning is displayed by the offending field. The validity of the web page address provided is not tested.

When It All Goes Wrong - Links to missing files or websites

A link is a shortcut to your file or website that is stored in the sales pipeline. Linked files themselves do not become a part of your sales pipeline file - they are not copied into your pipeline.

It is possible for a link to become invalid. Possible reasons?

Deleting the target file from your computer

Moving the target file to a different location on your computer

Using the sales pipeline on a different computer

Web page has been deleted

You can remove invalid links by selecting the link and pressing the Delete button.
