Exporting Your Sales Pipeline As A CSV File (for Excel, etc)

The following example assumes you are a sales executive for Rhythm and Blues Services - a mythical professional services company that provides equipment and services to the professional touring musician. The example pipeline is based upon the Standard template, and uses either the Eastern Area or Western Area example pipelines that were installed with this program.

You can export your sales pipeline into a text file of comma separated values (a .CSV file). This file format is especially useful for Microsoft Excel users who can open a .CSV file as an Excel spreadsheet.

Let's save the Western Area sales pipeline as a .CSV file so that we may analyze it with Microsoft Excel.

Open the Western Area sales pipeline using the Pipeline toolbar's Open button, or through the menus File -> Open Pipeline From --> File.

With the Western Area Pipeline open, select the Save --> Save As button from the Pipelines tab or use the menu File -> Save As.

Choose the "Save As Type" at the bottom of the "Save Desktop Sales Manager Pipeline File" form as "Comma Separated Values (.CSV)". Give the file a name like "Western Area", when it would be saved as "Western Area.CSV".

Use Excel to open the file "Western Area.csv" and you will see something very much like the results below. (You may want to Autosize the columns in Excel for easier reading). There are 60+ columns that contain the information in the 20 data fields as well as the 40+ derived and calculated fields.
