Creating the post office

The following example assumes you are a sales manager for Rhythm and Blues Services - a mythical professional services company that provides equipment and services to the professional touring musician. The example pipeline is based upon the Standard template, and uses either the Eastern Area or Western Area example pipelines that were installed with this program.

In this example we will assume that you are the head of sales for Rhythm and Blues, and want to set up a post office and have your Eastern Area sales rep and your Western Area sales rep connect to the post office.

Creating the post office

In Desktop Sales Manager select Tools --> Manage (in the Datas Center area) and then click on the menu "Create a new post office":

When the Create Post Office form is displayed, enter the name of the post office you wish to create. In this case we will name the post office Rhythm Blues. The post office name MUST be unique, so you may wish to use a name like "Rythmn Blues 12" in your example. You must also enter a post office password and the email address of the post office administrator. The email address is used when mailbox owners need support or have questions - their email is directed to the email address you provide here.

Finally, you will want to select the number of mailboxes this post office requires. In this case we will change the number of boxes from 10 (shown) to 5 - plenty for Rythmn and Blues' sales team. Select '5 mailboxes' and then press "Create"

Subscribing to a post office

The post office you have created is ready to use. Post office subscription is a month-to-month service provided by Software On Sailboats. You have 24 hours to set up the monthly subscription fee for your post office through the Software On Sailboats website. If after 24 hours your post office subscription has not been set up the post office will be deleted from the Data Center.
