The Report Category Area provides you with a way to regroup and reorganize a report. You can also add/remove buttons from the Category area to expand your grouping options.

For example, the following report is grouped by sales opportunity Stage:

Pressing the Rating button in the Report Category Area changes the grouping of the report. The report is now grouped by Ratings - Negative, Neutral, Positive, etc.

Category Buttons On Reports

The buttons displayed in the Category area when a report is first displayed are always initially set by the report itself. Some reports are logically only grouped in one way, so no Category buttons are displayed. For example, the report "When Are My Deals Going To Close?" is intrinsically organized by date. Reorganizing it around another property - say sales probability - does not make sense for a report that addresses "when are my deals going to close?".

Category Right Click

On reports that DO feature Category buttons, the Category buttons can be changed from their initial value by right clicking on the Category area and selecting "Options".

Category buttons may also be hidden by right clicking on the Category area. However, the program will always keep at least one Category button present.
